A Haven in the Heights – Hawaii Loa Ridge
Panoramic ocean and coastal views are among the features of Hawaii Loa Ridge that have made this east Oahu hillside neighborhood an enduring choice of affluent buyers. Another attraction, and for some equally important, is the emphasis on security. As one of the few gated communities in Honolulu, security was and continues to be an important selling point for Hawaii Loa Ridge and a particular priority with off-shore and high profile buyers.
Projected as an upscale neighborhood from its inception, the subdivision was laid out and developed incrementally, providing the lots with protected view channels and ensuring that all homes would be built within the boundaries of a secured, gated enclave.
To ensure quality and environmental integrity, an architectural committee set strict guidelines for design and construction of homes as well as landscaping. Colors of exterior siding and roofing must be approved by the design review committee.
Hawaii Loa Ridge now comprises approximately 535 homes and a few vacant lots. The community also includes a management office, recreation center with tennis courts, a children’s playground, and picnic area located in the Ridge Park, and a security station which is staffed around the clock and dispatches mobile security throughout the community.
Although the neighborhood has been essentially “built out” for more than 30 years, it retains a fresh ambiance due in part to the quality of the architecture and well maintained common areas. Currently, remodeling is in progress or has been completed at many of the older homes.
Team Siu+Camacho, Malia Siu (R) and Co-Listor Lisa Camacho (RA) of Berkshire Hathaway Home Services, have recently listed a luxurious and spacious home located on a rim lot on Kahiau Loop.
Built in 1990 and extensively remodeled in 2010 and 2018, the home expresses a strong focus on aesthetics as well as structural quality. An expansive open floor plan captures the panoramic views of the ocean to the horizon and the coastline to Diamond Head in the west.
With a total of 4,134 interior square feet augmented by 861 square feet of decks and lanai, the two-story home includes four bedrooms, three-and-a-half bathrooms, a spacious main living and dining area, open kitchen, and a separate pool house cabana. The 16,236-square-foot property, which is walled, fenced, gated, and extensively landscaped, encompasses a new infinity swimming pool which flows into a second pool and hot tub.
“This is a beautiful and elegant home with high end finishes and detailing throughout and an award-winning kitchen,” Siu said. “The gorgeous master suite has a spa-like bathroom and view of Diamond Head. Vaulted ceilings in the main living areas enhance the sense of spaciousness…large windows and French doors open to ocean views and the pool area, bringing the outside in.”
Additional features include Ipe hardwood and limestone flooring, granite countertops, central air conditioning, recessed lighting, Bose surround-sound, home security, oversize two-car garage with built-in storage, and a photovoltaic system.
Constructed primarily of concrete with a stucco finish and tile roof, the house presents itself with clean, vertical lines complemented by mature trees and a manicured lawn.
