D.R. Horton Hawaii Offering Something For Everyone

New construction in several neighborhoods across Oahu has been keeping Hawaii’s largest homebuilder, D.R. Horton Hawaii, more than busy, giving buyers, in turn, a fine selection of homes to choose from, depending on their personal preferences.

Options include condominium residences at Ka Malanai in Kailua, townhouses and flats at Pohakala at Mehana, and single-family homes, townhouses and flats in Ho‘opili — Hawaii’s newest master-planned community in West Oahu.

• Ka Malanai in Kailua offers residents an appealing urban lifestyle and the conveniences of casual daily living. Just minutes from the beach, recreational activities, shopping and dining, this upscale fee-simple condominium community comfortably accommodates individuals and families seeking a prime location in the heart of Kailua Town.

With sales underway for the final building at Ka Malanai, buyers can select from several floor plans featuring up to approximately 1,500 square feet of living area, with amenities including central air conditioning, stainless-steel kitchen appliances and master suites with double vanities, walk-in closets and separate bathtubs and showers.

Prices at Ka Malanai begin in the mid-$800,000s, with the first homebuyers moving in now.

• Just over the Koolau mountain range is Pohakala, the final phase of the approximately 1,000-home, master-planned community of Mehana.

Pohakala at Mehana includes 60 fee-simple townhomes and flats, designed for working families of Hawaii, and is being sold as 120 percent affordable, as defined by the City and County of Honolulu.

The units feature twoand three-bedroom floor plans with up to 1,933 square feet of living area — some of which are move-in ready — with prices beginning in the mid-$300,000s.

Nearby are community amenities such as public parks, a pool and recreational center, a tricycle park for keiki and a dog park.

Pohakala’s FlexHomes®,, meanwhile, are perfect for multi-generational living or setting up a small business.

• Finally, there is Ho‘opili, D.R. Horton’s master-planned, transit-ready community in East Kapolei, which, upon completion, is expected to feature about 11,750 fee-simple homes, and will be welcoming its first families to the neighborhood by the end of this month.

Ha‘akea at Ho‘opili is the first phase of single-family homes in the up-and-coming community, featuring about 150 residences, a 1.8-acre community park and neighborhood commercial space. Six floor plans are available, ranging in size from 1,209 to 1,803 square feet.

For added convenience, a select number of the homes offer accessory dwelling unit options and golf course frontage.

Prices at Ha‘akea at Ho‘opili begin in the high-$500,000s.

Another homebuying option is Haloa at Ho‘opili, the first multi-family phase of the community, which is currently offering townhomes, duplexes, FlexHomes® and stacked flats. About 56 of the townhomes will be sold as affordable under the City & County guidelines.

Besides all the new housing, Ho‘opili will include five schools, commercial farms, parks, three rail transit stops, commercial/retail spaces and other community amenities.

“Families all over Oahu are very excited to find the superb choices of location, price and style that D.R. Horton Hawaii is currently offering,” said Mary K. Flood, senior vice president of sales with D.R. Horton Hawaii.
