East Oahu’s Double Gated Enclave
Tenth in a series
Within the original gated community of Hawaii Loa Ridge, where development began in the late 1970s, is a second gated enclave of approximately 44 luxury homes called The Pointe at Hawaii Loa Ridge. Construction at The Pointe got under way around 1990; all lots were sold but a few remain undeveloped. With R-10 zoning, lots in The Pointe are generally larger than those in the rest of Hawaii Loa Ridge, contributing to the sense of privacy considered a particular feature of estates in the enclave.
As in the larger Hawaii Loa Ridge community, guidelines for design and construction to ensure quality and environmental integrity have been established by an architectural committee. Owners must agree to landscape their property, including the planting of specific mature trees. Colors, exterior siding, and roofing must be approved by the design review committee.
Common area maintenance and 24 hour security are provided by an on-site management office. Business matters for the home owners associations are handled by Certified Hawaii.
Currently available is a unique property being marketed by Coldwell Banker Pacific Properties Realtor Margaret Murchie the 2.99 acre Pointe Club. Originally built as a community facility, it is now being offered as a residential property consisting of a clubhouse of approximately 1,500 square feet, a large swimming pool, tennis court, and several party pavilions. “Most of the Hawaii Loa Ridge homes have their own swimming pools, so the Pointe Club was underutilized,” Murchie said. “Plus there are two tennis courts, a clubhouse, and two park areas in the main community, so Pointe owners took a vote and agreed to sell it as a single family residence. The Pointe Club is one of the largest pieces of developable ocean view property in all of East Oahu.”
Murchie, who has been active in Hawaii Loa for more than 20 years with nearly 60 recorded sales, is listing the property for $5,775,000. “This property represents a once in a lifetime opportunity to create a one of a kind estate,” Murchie said. “The existing club building, an award winning design by Group 70, could be converted into the main home, or used as a guest house or pool house. The lot cannot be subdivided but zoning allows for the construction of a much larger residence provided it is approved by the architectural review committee. The view from the 700 foot elevation is spectacular. The buyer could transform this property into East Oahu’s premier estate.”
Murchie is also listing a luxury home built in 2003 on a rim lot in The Pointe for $5.75 million. The 4,650 square foot two story home overlooks the ocean and coastline. Also located on the meticulously landscaped 19,475 square foot property are a maid’s quarters, gazebo, swimming pool, and spa.
