Situated on a bluff above the Waimea coastline, a new home designed specifically for the site by architect Joe Lancor AIA is being offered by Ken Chong Realty and Sterman Realty. The custom home was recently completed on one of 10 lots owned by DHARA, LLC in a subdivision originally developed as The Bluffs at Waimea.

The spacious two-story home with an interior living area of 2,533 square feet augmented by 763 square feet of lanai space occupies a 7,518 square foot lot near the top of the development. Lancor said his design approach was guided by basic architectural principles of Frank Lloyd Wright regarding the relationship between interior and exterior spaces. “We made extensive use of floor-to-ceiling multi-slide doors to bring the outside in and enhance views from all parts of the house. The entire main living area can be opened up to the expansive ground floor deck and flows seamlessly to the open kitchen. One of the most unusual features is that, when you slide the doors back, you literally have an indoor-outdoor kitchen and counter seating area…it becomes a great gathering place when entertaining.

“The master suite on the upper level opens up to a large deck with a panoramic view of the countryside and ocean. The Bluffs development is close enough to the coast to see the various surf breaks as well as surfers riding the waves.”

The home is constructed and finished with high quality materials, inside and out. Door frames and kitchen cabinets are fabricated with mahogany, flooring is a porcelain tile that resembles wood, countertops are granite, and bedrooms are carpeted.

“We finished the exterior board and batten siding with a wood stain compatible with the natural surroundings and roofed the house with solar reflective shingles, a product from Cool Roof Hawaii that is attractive and reduces heat transfer to the interior of the home. The 550-square-foot garage, with direct entry to the kitchen, includes ample space for sports equipment and the ‘water toys’ favored by residents of the North Shore.”

Lancor has numerous custom homes to his credit, as well as commercial projects and several popular North Shore restaurants.

The home is co-listed by Ken Chong Realty and Sterman Realty and priced at $1,875,000. Open houses are being conducted.
