Island-Style Living in the front of Kailua

homes0508-01More than 90 percent of the condominium homes in Phase One of Ka Malanai, D.R. Horton Hawaii’s first project in Kailua, have been sold and occupied, according to senior vice president of sales Mary Flood. Of the 153 one-, twoand three-bedroom units in Phase One’s six buildings, twoand three-bedroom floor plans currently priced from $817,000 to $955,000 are still available. Sales for Phase Two, now in the early planning stages, are expected to begin next year.

“The positive feedback from our homeowners — everyone from working professionals to retirees to military service members — has been tremendous,” Flood said. “We have had only one resale since sales began, which underscores that Ka Malanai is delivering the quality and lifestyle people are looking for.

“Even though Ka Malanai is in Kailua Town, we wanted it to have a suburban community feel, so green space is incorporated around and within the complex, which is pet-friendly. Most units have views of the courtyards and the mountains, or Kailua District Park.”

The four-story, U-shaped buildings are sited around landscaped interior courtyards with barbecue areas, a circuit training course and exercise equipment. Parking is at ground level with access-controlled elevators to all residential levels in every building. Shared storage for water sports equipment such as surfboards and kayaks is provided.

The units offer quality finishes and fixtures, such as wood cabinets, solid surface counter-tops, ceramic tile and carpeted floors, contemporary GE appliances, bathrooms with separate tubs and showers, central air conditioning and large windows and sliding glass doors to admit natural light and ventilation. All units have lanais.

“People with an active lifestyle are attracted to this new community,” Flood said. “They can walk to town and Kailua Beach. Kailua District Park, right across the street, is one of Oahu’s best-maintained and well-equipped parks with an Olympic-size swimming pool, tennis and basketball courts, a ball field and gym. D.R. Horton Hawaii improved the road between the condominium complex and the park and buried power lines underground, which has had the effect of enhancing the appearance of the entire neighborhood.”

She added that D.R. Horton Hawaii will soon be compiling an interest list for those wanting information on Phase Two of Ka Malanai. Additional information on sales of completed units can be accessed at drhorton. com/hawaii.

D.R. Horton is an Equal Housing Opportunity builder.
