Ka Malanai Nearly Sold Out

Sales of homes in Ka Malanai in Kailua — D.R. Horton Hawaii’s award-winning, upscale condominium in the heart of Kailua Town — are coming to an end.

The 213 residences in eight low-rise buildings went on the market three years ago, and now, only 15 of them are still for sale.

Inspired by the breezes that flow through Kailua, Ka Malanai offers an appealing, urban lifestyle and the conveniences of casual daily living. It is located on Kailua Road, within walking distance of shopping, dining and entertainment venues, as well as beaches that are regularly ranked among the best in the world. On any given morning, an owner can answer a question like, “Do I want a suntan or Starbucks — or both?”

Still under construction is the second and final phase of Ka Malanai in Kailua, comprising two four-story buildings with 10 floor plans for the one-, twoand three-bedroom residences, with the residences still available priced from $853,000 to $922,000.

On the outside, the buildings feature soft and earthy pastel colors that blend into the beach-town aura of Kailua. The homes themselves are spacious throughout, ranging from 757 square feet for the one-bedroom units to 1,515 square feet for the three-bedroom floor plans. All feature high-efficiency central air conditioning, while the high ceilings, oversized windows and open interior layouts allow for plenty of natural light.

Similarly, the kitchens feature open plans perfect for entertaining, along with contemporary GE stainless-steel appliances, including dishwasher, refrigerator, range with hood, microwave oven, disposal and washer/dryer.

Finishes throughout the residences include tile flooring, quartz countertops and, in some cases, plantation shutters.

The master bedroom suites feature double vanities, separate bathtubs and showers, and walk-in closets. There also are ceramic-tile surrounds in the showers and baths, and energy-efficient Halo and Maxim light fixtures, including recessed lighting.

Community amenities include barbecue areas in a shared courtyard, as well as reserved and guest parking, and access-controlled elevators. Ka Malanai in Kailua also is pet-friendly.

As for the awards, the project was designed both inside and out by Honolulu-based Benjamin Woo Architects, whose efforts earned Ka Malanai in Kailua the “Best Multifamily Design” award in 2016 from FIABCI, the International Real Estate Federation.
