Koko Villas Attracts With Quality Design, Recreational Opportunities

The newest of the single family home subdivisions in Kalama Valley, Koko Villas spreads across approximately 14 acres between the base of Koko Crater and the Hawaii Kai Golf Course.

Its 70 upscale homes were developed in three increments. The 21 homes in Phase One were first offered in 2003.

Developer Philip Y. Ho drew on his own architectural background in conceptualizing the layout of the neighborhood and the design of the homes.

The award-winning Californiabased planning and design firm KTGY Group was the architect for the Koko Villas homes; one of Hawaii’s leading construction companies, Robert M. Kaya Builders, was the building contractor for the project. Prudential Locations served as exclusive broker.

The talent invested in the development was recognized in the 2004 Building Industry Association of Hawaii Parade of Homes in which the Villa Four Model received five awards, including “Grand Champion.”

More CRS, a specialist in Koko Villas and other upscale East Oahu neighborhoods, notes that location and recreational opportunities are prime attractions, in addition to the quality design and finishes of the individual homes. “All homes are double wall constructed with stucco facing and have tile roofs with four foot eaves,” More said. “Every lot was supplied with at least one drain to ensure that surface water would be effectively eliminated into the subterranean storm drains. To ensure that the beauty and consistency of streetscapes within the subdivision are not compromised, the Koko Villas community association maintains all front yards to a depth of approximately 11.5 feet from the street. Numerous recreational opportunities are close-by, in addition to the Hawaii Kai Golf Course and sandy beaches. Inside Koko Crater are the Koko Crater Botanical Garden, Koko Crater Stables, and miles of riding and hiking trails. Koko Head District Park includes night-lighted tennis courts, where I particularly enjoy playing since they’ve been resurfaced. It only takes about 10 minutes to drive to Hawaii Kai shops, restaurants, and schools.”

Two Koko Villas homes have recently been listed for sale, both at just under $1,400,000. Richard Cricchio, principal broker of Help-U-Sell Honolulu Properties, already has a pending contract on a single level home on the 14th Fairway of the Hawaii Kai Golf Course.
