Luxurious Living In Remote Kapalua

Ten years ago, The Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua on Maui underwent a $190 million renovation that involved upgrading and enhancing what was already one of Hawaii’s most luxurious resorts, and transforming its east wing into one- and two-bedroom residential suites, known as The Ritz-Carlton Residences.

Following an additional $14 million remodeling that ended in 2016, 15 of those residences now are available for purchase through listing agent The Wailea Group LLC, at prices starting from the low $1 million range for one-bedroom homes to the mid-$1 million range for two-bedroom homes.

The residences were remodeled by award-winning Hawaii design firm Philpotts Interiors, and include spacious living areas, private lanais, thoughtfully selected contemporary furniture, large-screen high-definition TVs, custom artwork, fine linens and enhanced kitchens with top-of-the-line Wolf and Sub-Zero appliances.

“The enhancements made to each residence reflect the finishing refinements to the property that already embody the incomparable Ritz-Carlton brand,” said Sean Hehir, president and CEO of Honolulu-based Trinity Investments LLC, which is part of a group that bought the resort in November 2016. “These homes were designed for the discerning Kapalua resident, providing the ultimate island retreat with all the benefits of a luxury condominium and a AAA Five Diamond oceanfront property combined into one.”

In addition to their own elegant and smartly designed residences, owners have access to the lavish amenities that are on par with being connected to the luxurious Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua, which — speaking of par — includes two championship golf courses and a golf academy.

Other amenities include a three-tiered swimming pool, an ocean-view fitness center, a 4,844 square-foot retail center, 32,000 square feet of meeting space, tennis courts, two marine sanctuaries and a 17,500-square-foot spa with 15 treatment rooms. There also are executive business services, wireless high-speed Internet, preferred rates at many of the outlets within the resort and a variety of first-rate restaurants.

A dedicated residential services manager also is on staff, whose office can make pre-arrival arrangements such as booking tee times, spa appointments and dinner reservations, and tend to other needs of residence owners as well.

Originally built in 1992, The Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua is situated at the remote northwest end of Maui, with clear views of the ocean and Lahaina Roads channel, which separates the island from nearby Molokai and Lanai.

Kapalua itself reflects the natural beauty that Maui is known for — lush forests, coastal trails and, of course, golden-sand beaches, with off-property activities including zip lining, kayaking, paddle sports, hiking, horseback riding and more. Off-site restaurants feature regional, Hawaiian, Pacific Island, Japanese and Italian cuisine.

“This is an extraordinary opportunity for owners to be part of this outstanding location in the 22,000-acre master-planned Kapalua Resort on Maui,” said Robert H. Merriman, director of sales of The Wailea Group, which is representing the owner, RC Kapalua Owner LLC.
