Oceanfront Options – The Leeward Coast – Makaha

Oceanfront property – whether it meets the sea with sandy beach or rocky shoreline – is by nature scarce, and consequently commands premium price points. Currently some of the best options for buyers and investors whose priority is ocean frontage can be found on Oahu’s Leeward Coast … and a full range of property types, from condos and single family homes to vacant land, is available.

In the Lualualei area of the coast, one of the single-family homes currently available meets virtually all of the conditions sought by those seeking an oceanfront lifestyle at a reasonable price.

Being offered by Coldwell Banker Pacific Properties for $535,000, the three-bedroom, one-bath home is close to a swimming beach, centrally located between numerous surfing spots, an ideal location for casting a fishing line, and perfectly situated to enjoy spectacular views of the ocean at all times from the home’s main living area.

“You can actually wash the dishes and watch the sunset at the same time,” said Travis Palmer, Realtor Associate and co-listing agent with Realtor Associate Sherry Holt-Reese. “It is amazing to have an ocean view like this for a little over $500K.”

The home sits on 6,300 square feet of land off an access road near Pokai Bay, with an expansive yard and a variety of mature tropical trees, just across from Lualualei Beach Park.

Other features of the home include a large kitchen and large living room, new wood floors, all new lights, a partly shaded patio and a covered garage. The home also recently was repainted, both inside and out.

Palmer, a veteran surfer who lives on the Leeward Coast himself, said the home is close to shopping centers, restaurants and other businesses, but far enough away to retain the feel of living in the country.

“Waianae Mall is just a five-minute walk away, and there is actually a Starbucks and Jamba Juice within a five-minute walk as well,” he said. Oahu’s “second city” of Kapolei, he added, is just a 20-minute drive away.

Palmer said the most prominent surfing beach in the area is, of course, Makaha, but closer to the home is Pokai Bay, “where beginners to advanced surfers get together to enjoy the waves on a daily basis.”

“The west side of the island boasts beautiful beaches for all types of ocean enjoyment for people of all abilities,” he said. “On top of that, the sunsets are amazing from almost all of these beaches. Living on the west side for 30 years, I feel very blessed to call the Leeward Coast my home.”
