Oceanfront Options – The North Shore – Waimea Bay

By the time the winter big wave surfing competitions conclude at the famous beaches of Oahu’s North Shore, visitors and competitors from all parts of the world will have been exposed to the energy and ambiance of this unique part of Hawaii. Many have purchased their own personal “piece of paradise,” contributing to the diversity of the North Shore communities.

North Shore real estate has continued to appreciate dramatically over the past three decadess. Homes along the stretch of coastline between Kahuku and Kaena Point range from “beach shacks” to multi-million dollar estates and condominium developments. Kamaaina families have continued to maintain both primary and secondary residences on the North Shore, and companies such as Billabong, Hurley, and Volcom have purchased properties in choice beachfront locations. Commercial development is concentrated primarily in Haleiwa Town, where several new commercial projects have just been completed. Despite the extensive media exposure and the increase in upscale residential real estate development, the North Shore of Oahu continues to resist excesses of urban encroachment and retain its country atmosphere.

At the southern point of Waimea Bay, overlooking lava rock cliffs and spectacular ocean and coastal views, a luxurious single family home was built in 1994 for two chefs from New York looking for an island getaway.

“This home is truly a dream,” said Realtor Tracy Allen, Luxury Property Specialist and Vice President of Coldwell Banker Pacific Properties. “For those looking for a chic island hide-away with panoramic views and the latest in design trends, this home offers it all.” She has listed the home for $4,350,000, inclusive of furnishings.

The custom-designed, two-story home is situated on 8,926 square feet of fee simple land on the ocean side of a cul-desac. With 2,742 interior square feet, two-and-a-half baths, den, and a 740-square-foot lanai, the home features a kitchen and dining areas equipped for gourmet cooking and entertaining.

Amenities in the kitchen include Barber Wilsons plumbing fixtures, Proff appliances, Samuel Heath cabinet hardware, Sapele cabinet doors, custom-painted terra cotta tiles, Wolf range, True refrigerator/freezer, Hector Finch light fixtures, and Urban Archaeology wall shelf.

Renovated throughout in 2014, the home features numerous large windows and glass sliding doors to maximize views and natural lighting, custom-made pull and motorized curtains, mango wood flooring in main living area, designer fixtures in the master and guest bathrooms, marble bathroom wash stands and sinks, and central and split air conditioning.

The fully-fenced, landscaped yard is equally elegant with palm trees and outdoor entertainment lighting. A deck on the first floor of the house includes a stairway to an uncovered flag stone gathering area at ground level, where a deep soaking, jetted hot tub and a custom-designed pizza oven island with wet bar are located.

This unique property offers a country feel of privacy and isolation, yet numerous shopping and dining options are close-by at Haleiwa and Waialua to the south and Turtle Bay and Laie to the north on Kamehameha Highway.
