Real Estate Developer Promotes New Leadership

Gentry Homes has announced the appointment of Quentin Machida as the new president and chief executive officer. Machida, senior vice president and CFO, joined Gentry Homes in 1990, and will take over for Robert “Bob” Brant, who has retired after leading the company for 18 years.

“Our company, which celebrates its 50th anniversary this year, has made phenomenal improvements in every aspect of home building due to Bob Brant’s leadership,” Machida said. “We owe him our gratitude for being a truly inspirational leader. His commitment to quality design and incorporating green building materials in new home construction has made Gentry Homes a leader in providing some of the most energy-efficient homes on the market today.”

Gentry Homes became an Energy-Star partner with the EPA, was recognized by the City & County of Honolulu’s Environmental Award for water and energy conservation, and acquired numerous BIA-Hawaii awards, including Grand Champion, Best in Show, Best in Division, and Hawaii Built Green. Gentry is known for developing new programs which increased the efficiency of the homes and reduced the carbon footprint of its developments.

“I also want to give credit to Brant’s focus on addressing Hawaii’s housing needs,” said Machida. “We’re very proud of the fact that we provide affordable homes that make it possible for first-time homebuyers to realize their dream of homeowner-ship. I will continue pursuing our vision of providing quality homes and communities for a better Hawaii — that exemplify the company’s dedication to planning, design, competitive pricing and customer satisfaction.”

Ewa by Gentry is now home to more than 8,300 families. Brant also led the development of single-family homes at Mahinui by Gentry in Kaneohe, the construction of the Kane-hili community for the Department of Hawaiian Homelands, and the acquisition of land in Kapolei and Maui for future development.

“I look forward to leading the incredible team at Gentry, as the company has become a major force in real estate development. From Kailua, Oahu to Kailua-Kona on the Big Island, we are fulfilling the vision of our founder, Tom Gentry, to build beautiful, well-designed quality homes with a special focus on the first-time homebuyer. His passion continues to be fulfilled with new homes in the Coral Ridge and SEAbridge communities in Ewa, which start in the mid $500,000s,” said Machida.

Gentry Homes is one of Hawaii’s premier residential developers. Over the past 50 years, the Gentry organization has developed more than 13,000 homes. To learn more about Gentry Homes, visit the professionally decorated model homes, call 447-8430, or visit the website
