The Resort Lifestyle
Located between Kawela Bay and Kahuku Point, the Turtle Bay Resort opened in May 1972 as Del Webb’s Kuilima Resort Hotel and Country Club. It remains the only major resort/residential property on Oahu’s North Shore. Through several changes in management and alterations to the complex over the years, Turtle Bay has preserved its upscale ambiance and created a special niche among Hawaii’s resorts as a weekend and second home getaway favored by local residents.
Within its 852 acres are a 443-room hotel operated by Replay Resorts, two golf courses named for their designers, Arnold Palmer and George Fazio, tennis courts, swimming pools, a spa, a variety of restaurants and boutiques, and condominium homes. Several surf breaks are just offshore and five miles of sandy beaches front the property. The Kuilima Estates East and Kuilima Estates West, residential components of the original complex, were originally leasehold; over the years the units have been upgraded and the majority converted to fee simple.
In 2005, Ocean Villas, a luxury, hotel/resort-zoned condominium development, opened on a five-acre oceanfront site. Consisting of 57 condominium townhomes, the gated, walled complex includes a heated swimming pool, Jacuzzi, barbecue areas, parking for residents and guests, and on-site security. The manicured lawn and gardens extend to one of the resort’s sandy beaches. Resort amenities are available to owners and renters for a nominal fee.
One of the best-located units in Ocean Villas is currently offered by Keller Williams Honolulu Realtors Cindy and Ned Flanigan, specialists in luxury properties and the international market. The four bedroom, three bath, 2,391 square foot condominium townhome is an end/corner unit with direct ocean frontage. With its second floor location, it offers privacy and sweeping views of the ocean and dramatic North Shore coastline.
“It’s your choice…you can live in your villa year round, vacation here, or allow others to enjoy the beauty and luxury of this special Turtle Bay retreat,” said Cindy Flanigan. “Villa 218 includes two master suites with luxurious bathrooms, a guest bedroom and bath, an upscale kitchen with Asko, Wolf, and SubZero appliances, a family room, a formal dining area, and main living area that opens to a 158 square foot covered lanai deck, providing an additional option for outdoor dining and savoring the spectacular ocean and sunset views. High ceilings contribute to the sense of spaciousness and floor to ceiling sliding glass doors bring the outside in. Among the many high-end finishes are Brazilian chestnut and natural stone flooring, Persa Gold granite countertops, Crema Marfil marble bathroom countertops, and a koa wood dry bar. The villa is also equipped with a Bose sound system and a full size washer/dryer. “
Flanigan noted that numerous celebrities have been both short and long term guests at Turtle Bay, attracted by its reputation for privacy, pristine seacoast, and proximity to the epicenter of the surfing world. Ocean Villas Villa 218 has had its share of this clientele and commands premium rental rates the year round.
“There are several options available to owners for property management,” Flanigan added. “You can place your unit in the resort rental pool, hire an independent property manager, or self-manage. At our open house at Villa 218 this Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m., we will be available to discuss the various alternatives a buyer can choose from, as well as answer questions about the great menu of resort amenities available to both owners and guests.”
Flanigan is offering Ocean Villas 218 at $3,488,000 fee simple with furnishings negotiable and one secure, assigned parking space included.
