Vet Aid 2016 Coming Up May 14

Screen Shot 2016-04-29 at 4.52.45 PMVet Aid 2016, a day of service and assistance for U. S. veterans and transitioning military, will be presented by the The Veterans Movement Hawaii Chapter Saturday, May 14, from 8 a.m to 1 p.m. at the Oahu Veterans Center, 1298 Kukila Street in Foster Village.

Veterans who are seeking assistance with their benefits and other life issues are invited to attend at no charge. Throughout the day, representatives from various veterans service organizations will be available for consultation; veterans are encouraged to bring relevant documents and information for review.

• From 10 to 11 a.m., The Veterans Movement Radio Program, a regular Saturday morning feature on News Radio 830 KHVH, will be broadcast live from the Oahu Veterans Center. “The Veterans Movement Radio Program is the vehicle in which the Veterans Movement can inform, empower, and advocate for veterans and our military families,” said radio host Rick Hamada. “The mission of The Veterans Movement is to help veterans and bring the military and civilian communities together for this common goal.”

• From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., a seminar on utilizing the VA benefit to purchase or refinance a home will be presented by Veterans United Home Loans of Hawaii. The Veterans United free educational seminar series, now in its ninth year, has provided thousands of Hawaii veterans with information and inspiration that enabled them to own a piece of the land they have defended.

• From 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. bento lunch and refreshments will be provided.

Advocates from several support organizations will be on hand, including The Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA), The VA Health Administration (VAPIHCS), US VETS Barbers Point, Western Oahu VET Center Ewa, Volunteer Legal Services of Hawaii, Hawaii State Office of Veteran Services, U.S. Department of Labor (VETS), Barbers Point, Veterans United Home Loans of Hawaii, and Thank a Vet and Vote. Returning this year is Verna Jones, Executive Director of The American Legion in Washington, D.C. along with local representatives. iHeart Media Honolulu is a sponsor of Vet Aid 2016 and all 8 iHeart Media stations will be involved with promoting the event.

Support is also being provided by Five-Star Transportation-A Veterans Movement Partner, Veterans United Foundation, Military Home Source, Miller/Coors, Paradise Beverages, Salem Media Group, Midori Designs, The Armed Forces Benefit Association, and Dignity Memorial.
