Veterans United – More than just Hawaii’s #1 VA Lender

homes0205-3Helping veterans and active duty service members become homeowners is the primary goal of Veterans United Home Loans of Hawaii. But the area’s Number One VA Purchase Lender has additional priorities – such as educating veterans about their VA Loan benefit and “giving back,” both to organizations that serve veterans and to the community at large.

Veterans United’s free monthly seminars, a program now in its 9th year, cover everything service members and veterans need to know about the VA Loan, as well as credit counseling.

Giving back is implemented through their employee-funded Veterans United Foundation. The charitable arm of Veterans United donates to various military-related organizations in the Hawaii area, in addition to funding scholarships and donating to individual families or service members. Veterans United of Hawaii considers their Foundation efforts a priority and an integral part of their company values.

“Giving back to the community we live in is something we really treasure,” said Tony Dias, Executive Director of Veterans United Hawaii.

“Our community includes numerous veterans, veterans organizations, and active duty military that support our local businesses, so we feel it’s really important to support them in return with our employee-funded foundation.”

Over the past two years employees of Veterans United Home Loans of Hawaii contributed more than $650,000 to the Veterans United Foundation by donating a percentage of their income. Some of the local charities and beneficiaries of these contributions have been the Navy League, the Veterans Movement, US VETS, USO Hawaii, Easter Seals Hawaii, Navy Seals Foundation, and Honolulu Habitat for Humanity, to name a few.

In consideration of their generous contributions, the Veterans United Home Loans home office has presented its Enhancing Lives Award to the Hawaii branch, noting that “The Hawaii team and Tony Dias showed extreme dedication day in and day out to veterans in their community.” The Hawaii branch is a proud recipient of this award.
