Veterans United “Week Of Giving”

Building relationships is what matters most at Veterans United Home Loans of Hawaii. We go above and beyond for our clients and strive to provide world class customer service. But, did you know we are more than just a lender? Our company is also made up of an employee-funded foundation. Our employees donate a portion of their pay checks and the company matches it dollar for dollar. With these monies we have been able to partner with non-profit organizations throughout the year. In August, we participated in Veterans United’s nationwide campaign called The Week of Giving. The campaign has donated over $1 million to various organizations across the country through the Veterans United Foundation.

On August 15, 2017, Veterans United Home Loans of Hawaii surprised five employee-picked local organizations with a bus full of staff, balloons, a camera crew, and a big check for $10,000 each.

Giving to these organizations in a big way was one of the most invigorating experiences for our team. A small branch in Waipio, Oahu gave a total of $50,000 to support the efforts of the Special Olympics of Hawaii, Honolulu Habitat for Humanity, Easter Seals, the Boys & Girls Club, and US Vets. While we planned to bless these groups, it was their overflowing amount of gratitude that really blessed us. We got to shake hands with the executives and members of these heart-led entities and see their sole purpose is to care for their people. We were inspired by the dedication and care they provide to underserved communities merely because it’s the right thing to do.

Our values state “we believe our success is not measured solely by profits, but by the positive impact we have on the lives of our coworkers and community.” The Week of Giving was an opportunity to partner with other organizations making a difference in Hawaii – and it became a refreshing encouragement to us at Veterans United Home Loans of Hawaii to continue to serve our veteran community toward their goal of homeownership with great heart, with great integrity, and with great purpose.
