D. R. HORTON-SCHULER HOMES has begun construction of single-family homes at Olino at Mehana, a new neighborhood within the developer’s premier master-planned community of Mehana in Kapolei. Construction of multi-family town-homes is scheduled to begin this month.

Planned as a family-oriented neighborhood, Olino will consist of 40 single-family homes and 132 townhomes, with approximately 30 percent of the latter reserved for owner-occupants who qualify under City and County Affordable Guidelines.

Single-family homes will be available in two floor plans: a single-story model with 1,365 square feet of interior living space, three bedrooms and two baths, and a two-story model with 1,563 interior square feet, four bedrooms and three baths. Priced in the high $500,000s, the homes come with a two-car attached garage and quality interior finishes, including Shaker-style cherrywood cabinets and solid surface countertops.

Townhomes will range in size from 757 to 1,528 square feet. The twoand three-bedroom units each come with two assigned parking spaces and some with a one-car garage. Prices range from the mid-$300,000s for the affordable townhomes to the mid-$400,000s for the market rate townhomes.

The first homes are expected to be completed and ready for occupancy in 2015. Sales are on a first-come, first-served basis. D. R. Horton-Schuler Homes Vice President of Sales and Marketing Mary Flood notes that Olino’s ideal location is making this new neighborhood very attractive to buyers.

“This new neighborhood is directly across from the Mehana community park and within a block of the Mehana pool and recreation center,” Flood said. “And, of course, Mehana is the only community in the Village of Kapolei that is within walking distance of shopping, dining and schools. The brand new Hookele Elementary School, which will open this fall, is now under construction in Mehana on land donated by D. R. Horton. Also, this year, we expect to begin building our new Mehana Activity Center and the Mehana Dog Park.”

Flood pointed out that the abundant recreational amenities of the Kapolei area are close-by, including sandy swimming beaches, the Hawaii Water Park, the Ko Olina Marina and nine golf courses.

Shopping malls with numerous dining options, supermarkets, big box retailers, an increasing number of public and private schools, plus the new University of Hawaii West Oahu Campus, are all just a short drive from Mehana.
